SB 100 has passed the Senate and is due to be heard on the Assembly floor in the very near future. If enacted, SB 100 would significantly increase electricity costs for businesses and residents, making California even more uneconomical!
BACKGROUND:
California has led the nation in moving to renewable energy and already have aggressive goals to increase our renewable portfolio! In order to combat climate change, proponents of this bill believe California must dramatically cut its reliance on fossil fuel powered electricity. The bill would accelerate the state’s push for utilities to buy electricity from renewable sources under the following timeline:
SB 100 failed to gain approval in the Assembly in 2017. It was passed by the Senate and had it’s 2nd reading in the Assembly Monday, August 6th, 2018 where it was amended and will have another second reading in the future.
We need to let our local legislators know this is an overly expensive and needless bill that would be devastating to local business.
