The Chamber is a leading voice in Sacramento and we expect to partner with it on a variety of statewide campaigns. It does great work advocating for our entire state – but BizFed Central Valley will focus on our 5-county region.
No. The heart and soul of BizFed’s success is based on our business association members being strong and successful. Through them, BizFed’s membership gains expertise and together all those memberships will have a much greater impact.
Numerous BizFed members are apolitical and simply abstain from some votes that may cross their bylaws. Very often such groups have deep expertise in certain areas and are vital to educating other members about those topic areas without requiring a vote.
BizFed members aren’t always in lockstep. Each side of an issue presents information and the BizFed board must approve a position by a two-thirds vote. Regardless of the outcome, BizFed’s position doesn’t prevent an individual group from continuing its own advocacy.
Every member of BizFed has a voting seat on the Board. Regardless of your membership dues, you have the same amount of voice. You also have equal access to serve on the Executive Committee, made up of committee co-chairs and a few other Board leadership roles. These leaders are nominated and voted on by the full board once per year. The Executive Committee helps steer the direction of the Federation but does not make decisions for the group.
BizFed does not join our members’ associations because we aren’t a single association, but rather a federation of diverse business groups.
