Air Quality Chair
Juan has been involved with environmental program management for nearly 20 years in a variety of roles. His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from CSU Bakersfield and a Masters of Science in Environmental Policy and Management from the University of Denver.
Juan is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, with extensive experience in Air Quality Permitting, Greenhouse Gas Management (GHG), Environmental Compliance Strategies, Hazardous Materials, and Waste Management. Juan is an “Environmental Team Lead” for California Resources Corporation (CRC) responsible for Environmental Compliance for its assets in the San Joaquin Valley and Sacramento Valley basins.
In this capacity, he works with the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District, the California Air Resources Board, and other regulators on implementing new laws such as the California Oil and Gas Regulation, and existing programs like the GHG Mandatory Reporting Regulation, Title V, New Source Review, New Source Performance Standards, and Emission Reporting. Prior to working for CRC, Juan worked for Kern Oil and Refining in Bakersfield in their Environmental Department. Before returning to Bakersfield from the Los Angeles area, Juan worked for Baxter BioScience, a Biotech Manufacturing Facility in their Environmental Department, and for Clean Harbors Environmental Services. Juan, his wife, Alycia, and their two daughters live in Bakersfield.
