San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District Committee
Brian has been involved in the energy industry for nearly 30 years in a variety of roles.
His education includes a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil/Environmental Engineering, both from Michigan Technological University.
Brian currently works for California Resources Corporation on “emerging issues” which includes air quality and greenhouse gas regulations. In this capacity, he works with Western States Petroleum Association and California Independent Petroleum Association as well as directly with regulators on implementing new laws such as AB617 and revisions to existing state programs like Cap and Trade and the Low Carbon Fuel Standard. Prior to working with CRC, he was an independent consultant who managed a grant project through the alternative vehicles and fuels program at the California Energy Commission. The grant was an add-on to work he was doing with Great Valley Energy which was a special purpose entity started to permit and build ethanol production facilities in the Central Valley. Prior to that I worked in the Environmental Department at a refinery in Bakersfield formerly owned by Texaco, Equilon, Shell, Flying J, and Alon.
Before coming to California, he worked in Chicago in the 1990s for several consulting firms doing air quality permitting and compliance for chemical plants, coatings manufacturers, glass plants and others around the country. Brian and his wife, Annette live in Bakersfield. They have 4 kids and two grand kids all who live in the Central Valley.
